Stay at The Bear Inn Or The Bear Suites – Your Choice!
At The Bear, you can choose between staying above the historic Bear Inn, a 600 year old pub located on Market Square, where we have 4 quirky en-suite guest rooms upstairs, or alternatively, choose to stay in one of our luxurious self-catering suites just a short walk around the corner from the pub, on Stone Street. Whether you’re at The Bear Inn itself or The Bear Suites, you’ll be near all the local facilities, shops, restaurants, take-aways and three other pubs, making it a cosy place to stay in the centre of the town.

The Bear Inn
We have four en-suite rooms at The Bear Inn, conveniently located directly above the pub itself. The pub is over 600 years old but still lively and going strong! However, each of our simple and quirky rooms comes with all the essential modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries. You will also have the benefit of easy access to our bars, the dining areas and our outside tables on the Square. So, whether you’re here for a cosy getaway or exploring the charm of Llandovery and the Brecon Beacons, our ‘laid back’ rooms above the pub provide an informal and convenient option.
The Bear Suites
Because of the high demand for our existing guest accommodation and the overall lack of available letting rooms in the town, in 2023 we acquired a second property just around the corner and have now completed renovating this property into an extension of our guest accommodation offerings at the pub. Our two new suites of rooms are named after the rivers running through the town (the Rivers Tywi and Gwyderrig) and can be easily configured to sleep differing numbers of guests depending on their specific requirements.
Tywi Suite
The Tywi Suite of rooms is a spacious suite of rooms spread over two floors (first and second floors) of the building comprised of a beautiful living space and either two or four double bedrooms depending upon your needs. On the first floor, there is an open-plan living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, a master bedroom with a super-king size bed and a further double bedroom along with a nicely appointed bathroom. If required, upstairs on the second floor, there’s another cosy double bedroom and a further twin-bedded room that can be transformed into a triple upon request.

Gwydderig Apartment
This is our brand-new luxury renovation on the ground floor. With two double bedrooms and a comfortable sofa bed and chair in the lounge, the Gwydderig suite can be flexibly configured to accommodate between two (in either a double or twin) or up to seven if the sofa bed and chair in the lounge are utilised. The exceptionally well equipped and stylish kitchen and modern bathroom suite provide all the comforts of home while staying in this charming town.
